Mark your calendars!  A date has been set for the 2008 Doggy Derby - it will be held September 27th and the slogan for the event will be "There's no place like a home!"  because a loving forever home is what we want for all of our wonderful shelter animals.  The Doggy Derby is a day of fun and education about the behavior of dogs and the wonderful companionship they provide.  This year we will emphasize the extent to which companion animals - whether homeless or adopted - are valued members of our community, providing love, friendship and often times critical services such as policing and therapeutic care.  There will be educational classes, fun competitions and raffles throughout the day.  And of course plenty of food goodies will be available for purchase.  Check back often for updates about the event.  If you want to help with the event in any way please contact the Shelter Manager (Amy).   Sponsors and donations of raffle prizes are especially needed during this planning stage.

The Solano County SPCA's dog kennel renovation project is nearing completion.  The new interiors are complete and the dogs are enjoying their new digs (pun intended).  This is a major project for the shelter and we now have a much healthier and more comfortable environment for the shelter's canine guests.
